Acropolis is a religious site consisting of several temples built in the 5th century BC. The most magnificent building at Acropolis is the Parthenon; this is a temple which was dedicated to the goddess Athena. It has become a paragon of ancient Greek architecture. There is also a small museum at the site with a collection of ancient Greek sculptures.

Temple of Olympian Zeus is a huge temple which was dedicated to the worship of Zeus and contains a large gold and ivory statue of Zeus. The perimeter of the temple consisted of 104 marble columns, but nowadays only some of the temple’s columns can be seen.

Panathenaic Stadium is one of the most popular ancient Greek sights in the city. The Panathenaic stadium is huge and is where the first contemporary Olympic Games were held in 1896. The present stadium was built on the site of an ancient stadium that was constructed in 330 BC and was later changed into an arena by the Romans.
